About Me

I wasn’t one of those children who had no idea what they wanted to be when they grew up. I dreamed of becoming a journalist from the age of eight after my beloved gran told me she knew I’d write a book one day, and around the time I compiled a community newspaper where the front page story was about my sister passing her ballet exam and flogged it to the neighbours.

After writing for an American newspaper whilst a student at the University of North Carolina and completing a postgraduate diploma in newspaper journalism at Cardiff University I started my career in regional papers on the South Wales Echo. I worked as a news reporter before moving to the features desk where I wrote content for a newly launched arts supplement and the entertainment pages.

I then spent many happy years working for several of the leading women’s weekly titles in London – including Best, Bella and Woman – as a senior writer, commissioning and deputy features editor and celebrity editor. I also shifted for numerous other titles including Closer, Woman’s Own and Hello! And was commissioned to write pieces for many other national outlets, both in print and online.

At the start of 2012 I launched my own successful home-based editorial business, building it from the ground up, pitching and writing features for diverse titles and websites including, the Express, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Independent, Grazia Magazine, OK!, Best, Bella, Take a Break, Prima Baby, Mother & Baby and Yahoo Lifestyle. I also now write widely on disability and autism, including for the i Newspaper, Times Educational Supplement and Autism Eye Magazine.

I have particular specialisms in trade retail publishing, and charity sector communications and am also a hugely experienced copywriter and commercial content expert. I’m commissioned to write advertorials, brand and product profiles, listicles and supplements as well as working on long-running campaigns for household names and brands, including Cosmos Tours & Cruises and the UK Government’s Smart Energy GB campaign.

In addition, I’m employed by publishing houses for manuscript editing and proofing work, and I also work alongside small and creative businesses, providing editorial and pitching services, including blog writing, business literature and profiles, product descriptions, commercial features and effective PR strategies. I’ve worked within the public relations sphere both as a freelancer and for companies including ITV.
